West Tennessee Bone and Joint Institute marks first year in new building

West Tennessee Bone and Joint Institute celebrated its first anniversary in its new facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony with doctors, staff and local dignitaries.

The modern clinic at 50 Capital Avenue consolidates three previously separate locations in Jackson under one roof. It offers a comprehensive range of services, including orthopedics, sports medicine, interventional pain management, physical therapy, occupational therapy and advanced MRI technology.

“The new facility is designed to provide a seamless, patient-centered experience in one location,” said former CEO Donna Klutts. “Uniting all our services together allows us to offer greater convenience and enhanced care to our patients. The new clinic features the latest imaging technology and a progressive physical therapy department.”

A Landmark for West Tennessee: 66-Foot Obelisk

One of the most striking features of the new clinic is a 66-foot obelisk, which stands as the tallest monument of its kind in Tennessee. The obelisk, which is topped with an aluminum cap and illuminated with programmable colored lights, is dedicated to West Tennessee as a symbol of hope, healing and inspiration to all.

A plaque mounted on the monument, dedicated to health care workers, recognizes their “selfless devotion and service improving the wellness of this community.” Other sides feature encouraging and uplifting Bible scriptures.

West Tennessee Bone and Joint Institute envisions the obelisk as a place of meditation, as well as picturesque photo opportunities.

A Vision for the Future

“We hope the new clinic and obelisk will reflect our dedication and commitment to the patients we serve here in West Tennessee,” said Jason Hutchison, M.D., President of West Tennessee Bone and Joint Institute. “It was designed as a state-of-the-art facility that will serve all our community’s orthopedic and interventional pain needs for the foreseeable future.”

Progressive Features

The clinic is equipped with advanced facilities and technology:

  • MRI with Blue Seal Innovation: This advanced imaging system uses a fraction of the helium compared to standard MRIs, making it environmentally friendly. It also features metal suppression software, ensuring safe imaging for patients with joint replacement implants. Enhancing the patient’s experience, it is less claustrophobic, has noise suppression and takes less time for the exam. The three purchased are in Jackson and Dyersburg with Vanderbilt Hospital having the nearest facility with the same imaging units.
  • Physical and Occupational Therapy Department: The expansive therapy area boasts new physio-focused equipment, indoor and outdoor turf, and a smash wall for innovative sports rehabilitation techniques.
